The county towns are Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Cirencester, and Tewkesbury, with there fine Regency buildings and impressive Promenades, Gloucester city also has much to offer and the impressive cathedral and the Gloucester Docks, that houses an enormous Antiques Centre, the Waterways Museum, the Opie Packaging Museum with Canal trips offering views of Gloucestershire that can only be seen by boat these all coexist in the ancient habits and customs that have developed into present day Gloucestershire, this has produced a rich wealth of history and ancestral belonging never disappointing to the traveller or the people who live here, there is a Folk Museum, Museum, Art Gallery, Cathedrals, Potter shops, and much, much more, the county villages are some of the most inspiring villages in the UK, with the countryside and the landscapes being popular with tourists visiting England. Gloucestershire is also close to the Midlands and the routes down to the South Coast. Wales and Oxfordshire are also within easy reach of this county. The Forest of Dean can be found here and is amongst the best in the UK, here you will find the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail this is the point of interest in the Forest it links several different site-specific sculptures commissioned for the forest. It is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year, with no admission charge.  The tranquil rural wooded countryside rises from 325 to 650 feet above sea-level with far reaching views of the Malvern Hills and the Black Mountains. There is a footpath, with its distinctive clump of trees planted to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, the summit at 971 feet has panoramic views of the Lower Severn Valley, the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the plain of Hereford up to the Black mountains, this county has the National Birds of Prey Centre at Clifford's Mesne which is open for most of the year with daily flying demonstrations, although we have our own wild bird population including resident buzzards hovering over the 40 acres of woodland.
