Kilchoan The so-called 'capital' of
Ardnamurchan is the village of Kilchoan, and it is certainly a good centre forseeing the peninsula. Ben Hiant ( 1 ,729 ft) rising to the east of the village is an excellent viewpoint. The district is good for walking but the roads are narrow and twisty for motorists. The ferry for passengers runs from here to
Tobermory on mull. There are sandy beaches and hill-lochs of brown trout. The district is so far west that the sundial at Ardnam'urchan lighthouse records time about 25 minutes later than G.M.T.
