Kilmuir is a hamlet on Skye about 5 miles north of Uig,
chiefly celebrated as containing the graveyard in which rest the remains of Flora Macdonald, who rescued Prince Charles Edward Stuart in 1746. Her tombstone bears Dr Johnson's celebrated panegyric, which he first printed in his Journey to the Western Isles of Scotland.
