Largs Property For Sale and Rent
Largs is perhaps the best known of this coast's holiday resorts, with many
hotels, guest-houses and other accommodation, and all the usual
amenities, but because of its sheltered position, with the Great
Cumbrae only one mile offshore,
it is an ideal safe anchorage for all craft and is a popular
sailing base.
Car and passenger ferries ply to millport, and there are
steamer cruises on the Firth of Clyde. The Inverclyde National
Recreation Centre, run by the Scottish Sports Council, is nearby.
Just to the south is the site of the Battle of
Largs, where in 1263 Alexander III annihilated the Viking
fleet which had crossed from
Arran and
ended the Norse invasion.
Largs enjoys a beautiful setting, and from its
Douglas Park, which rises to 600 ft, there is one of the most
magnificent
panoramas of sea, islands, and mountains to be
found in the British Isles.
