Lennoxtown Property For Sale and Rent
Lennoxtown was originally called the Clachan of Campsie. At the old parish church,
abandoned in 1828, is the graveyard with the
Lennox family vault and some early 17th-cent. Kincaid stones.
The new village of Lennoxtown, or Newtown of Campsie, started
with the introduction of calico-printing in 1785-6, and some
examples of its industrial housing date back to about 1795.
A nail-works has now been established. About one mile north west of Lennoxtown is Lennox Castle. Erected between 1837
and 1847, after a design of David Hamilton of
Glasgow, it
commands an extensive view of the area.
