Lochwinnoch in Renfrewshire is a small textile and furniture-making town at the southwest end of Castle Semple Loch. At the north end of the loch stood Castle Semple, which was once the seat of the Lords Semple, but it passed from them in 1727.
The mansion house that was built in 1735 was burned in 1924; the estate is now the property of the Department of Agriculture, and is developed as small holdings.
Near the ruin of the house is a fragment of Castle Semple. The Collegiate Church was founded by John, 1st Lord Semple, in 1504 and includes an ornate monument to him. He fell at Flodden.
