Saffron Walden is an attractive market town with historic buildings and
quaint antique shops. The
town gets its name from the rare Crocus sativus "saffron crocus" once used as a medicine and in cooking
The towns owes much of its building styles to the Quakers who were fundamental in the early
development, with many of the buildings remaining today.
