Tibbermore information and history
The village of Tibbermore was
the country residence of various bishops of Dunkeld from the 13th to the 15th century. Its name,
however, is more famous in history in connection with the wars of Montrose. It was here, in September 1644, that the Marquess met with Covenanters, who were in full strength with 6,000 men. Montrose
had only about 2,000 Irish and Highlanders, yet at Tibbermore he reduced his enemy to a rabble. He immediately entered the city of Perth. |
